The awe in simple things

As I got up this morning I heard a very foreign sound outside, rain! .We have gone on along time without rain, longer then usual for us. I went to the window to see how much it was raining and a sense of ahh... then it hit me. How wonderful is Mother Nature-- always in perfect harmony, always in balance.

We often forget this principle of balance and support, we forget to trust that everything in life supports us. The appreciation and comfort this brought me was indescribable, the goosebumps were flying. I felt such an amazing sense of being supported and realizing that was really what living a life of joy and purpose is.

How often do we forget to stop and be in amazement of something as simple as a rainfall?

Living on the west coast of beautiful British Columbia, we are blessed with a lot of rain in fact at times we are a little too soggy, from too much rain. Though as I reflected on this I realized that this was the human condition. We miss things when we don't have them and in most times don't appreciated them when we do have them.

One of the things I share with my clients is when we move to a state of appreciation and reverence we allow more of those things in our lives. We don't need to wait or create a pattern of lack in order to appreciate things we have. Rather then do this, let's create an abundance of feeling good always. Let's be in the moment and savoir all things.

I am reminded of something as I write this, about a time when I was a developer in real estate and built houses with lakeside views. What I heard was astonishing. When someone would purchase one of these homes for the view, they would be in such appreciation of it. Though over time the view would be less and less enjoyed and eventually be something that was just in the background. This got me thinking about the perspective of most of us. We appreciate things or long for them more when we don't have it and less when we do!

Contemplating this was a huge eye opener for me and I am excited to share this insight, enjoy each moment, be in awe of every gift that life offers-- even something as simple as a rainfall. Stay in the energy of gratefulness for in that emotion great joy comes and that is the life that I choose to live and share.
